“I first met Chidinma in August 2015 when she enrolled in my Effective Speaking class at Castleton University. She quickly impressed me as a bright, curious, and dedicated student, someone who wrote well, participated thoughtfully in class discussions, and was unafraid to ask questions. In a class with a high percentage of talented students, she stood out, delivering compelling presentations on subjects as diverse as Ebola and her own transatlantic journey. Chidinma not only prepared carefully for her speeches, but spoke confidently of her own emotional responses. Few first-year students approach her assurance or eloquence. She earned an A+ in the class.

After the course ended, I followed Chidinma’s progress. She continued to excel academically, and her grades, coupled with her kindness and extracurricular involvement, won the respect of faculty, staff, and students alike. Between 2016 and 2019, she worked as a math tutor at Castleton’s Academic Support Center, reporting to one of my colleagues. Because the economics faculty recommended her so highly, I also hired Chidinma as an economics tutor during that period. Her professionalism and personal warmth made her an excellent addition to our team.

Since the start of her undergraduate career, Chidinma has been interested in using mathematics to solve economics problems in developing countries. Given her intellect, work ethic, professionalism, and compassion, I believe she will be an asset to any organization and make a difference in the world.
